PRESS RELEASE — July 19, 2019
Los Angeles CA, USA—Crooked Media, the progressive media company founded by Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, and Tommy Vietor, announced today the hiring of Sarah Geismer as Head of Creative Development & Production. Geismer will lead development for all of Crooked Media’s active and upcoming podcast, television, and film projects.
Geismer comes to Crooked Media from Netflix, where she was an executive on the Original Series team, responsible for drama series including those by creators Jenji Kohan and Shonda Rhimes.
“Throughout her career, Sarah has demonstrated an incredible ability to champion and shepherd a diverse slate of shows, and has consistently identified stories and talent that resonate with audiences and compel them to keep tuning in.” said Sarah Wick, Crooked’s Chief Operating Officer. “We’re thrilled Sarah is bringing that wealth of experience to Crooked, as the company continues to expand and grow in new directions.”
With the newly-created role of Head of Creative Development & Production, Crooked Media has signaled its commitment to investing in original content. Following its successful entries into documentary and television, Crooked Media recognizes that the best way to expand and engage its audience is through premium series and film, including scripted and unscripted content.
Geismer is tasked with translating Crooked Media’s mission to entertain, inform, & inspire action across a range of platforms.
Prior to Netflix, Geismer served as VP of comedy development at 20th Century Fox TV, working on projects like Single Parents on ABC and Cool Kids on Fox. She has overseen a mix of drama and comedy projects including The Chi, Maron, Sirens, The Comedians, Complications, and Burn Notice. Geismer began her career as an associate producer for the MTV docuseries True Life.
About Crooked Media
Twitter is a great place to slowly lose your mind. Everywhere, the work of excellent journalists competes with clickbait, fake news, and whatever Donald Trump is tweeting about. We need a better conversation about politics in this country. That’s why we launched Crooked Media — to tell stories and share analysis that informs, entertains, and inspires action. No, we’re not unbiased, we’re not always serious and we’re certainly not always right. But we promise a no-bullshit conversation about politics and culture where you can laugh, cry, scream, ridicule us daily, share your ideas, and hopefully decide that you want to help fix this mess too. That’s it. End of mission.
